Design Story

The composition is built in three tiers: "Dost thou" arched across the chest, the armoured figure centred beneath it, and "even hoist?" curving along the lower edge. The illustration works in fine grey hatching, closer to an old engraving plate than a modern print, so the visor, the knee plates and the stacked weight discs all read as etched metal. Against the dark garment, the white type carries the contrast while the greyscale figure holds the middle ground. Nothing moves, and that stillness is the point — the pose is held, controlled, quietly confident.
